I warmly welcome you to be an active member of our party!

According to the Constitution of Finland, sovereign power in Finland belongs to the people, who are represented by Parliament. Finland has a unicameral Parliament with 200 seats. MPs are elected every four years in general elections. Every citizen who has reached the age of 18 is entitled to vote and each of them has one vote. Find my page on the Parliament's website here. The Christian Democratic Party has seven MP's in the Parliament. Our team there is called Christian Democratic Parliamentary Group. As Christian Democrats we want to build the society on the basis of durable Christian values. Our party The Christian Democrats in Finland was founded in 1958. Today it is a political movement which has about 12 000 members in over 200 local branchs. In addition, there are some branchs intended for immigrants where working languages are English or Russian. The party has 15 district organizations and furthermore, special organizations for women, youth and Swedish speakers.

The Christian Democrats in Finland is a part of the worldwide Christian Democratic movement. Political decision-making is all about our values. The value base of the Finnish Christian Democrats emphasises respect of human dignity, the importance of family and close communities, defending the weak, encouraging resourcefulness and individual and collective responsibility, not just for ourselves but also for our neighbours and the rest of creation. The party membership is open to everyone who agrees with our values and goals. Christian Democracy means active citizenship and participating.
